ONE HUNDRED restrooms
Summary
Description
ONE HUNDRED is a well-being brand re-inventing public restrooms. Our mission is to create moments for better well-being. Every toilet visit should be a 5-minute well-being boost, a moment of selfcare in a hygienic, safe, and welcoming environment for every visitor. This is what we call the new standard.
We design around real human needs, from functional requirements to emotional ones. Safety, hygiene, and accessibility form the baseline. Comfort, experience, and sustainability are where we go further. Research by Tork shows that 95% of people who face barriers in washrooms are not wheelchair users. The needs are mostly invisible: sensitive skin, sensory overload, a need for privacy, a parent with a young child, someone who simply needs calm. We listen to those needs, then build around them.
That translates into concrete solutions: touch-free fixtures, support rails, closed cubicles, hand towels over dryers, calming music, tactile wayfinding, universal icons, contrasting colours, baby-changing facilities, and private washbasins. Every element is chosen for a reason.
From design to operation, everything is done in-house. We take over existing facilities, redesign them to our standard, and operate them for the full contract period, typically ten years. Our Comfort Crew is present throughout opening hours. Smart technology monitors performance across all locations in real time. Field coaches, data-driven cleaning, and strict service level agreements keep quality consistent, wherever we are.
The results speak for themselves. Customer ratings hold at 9 out of 10. Visitor numbers grew by 20% in 2025. Satisfaction rises by up to 2 points after introducing our concept, and venue brand preference increases by 10 to 15%.
We are at the start of our European rollout. Today, we operate across more than 95 locations in five countries, in shopping centres, transport hubs, and highway service areas. Our goal is to grow to 200 or more locations across six or more countries within five years.
We own the whole experience, from design to the moment a visitor walks out energised. It's our goal to make these moments matter.
Offering a 5-minute well-being boost can only be achieved if the space works for everyone who walks inside our restrooms. It starts with caring about people, all of them. That objective is inseparable from the principles of Design for All.
Our project directly addresses the four objectives of this award.
We recognise and promote human diversity by designing around the full spectrum of visitor needs, not just the visible ones. From sensory sensitivity to mobility challenges, from young children to elderly visitors, our restrooms are built to include rather than accommodate.
We use Design for All as a tool to improve quality of life. A public restroom is one of the most frequently used spaces in the built environment. When it works well for everyone, it reduces stress, supports dignity, and creates a genuine moment of well-being in a busy day.
We demonstrate how inclusive design drives innovation. Our in-house approach, from concept to daily operation, has developed and selected solutions that go beyond compliance: touch-free systems, tactile wayfinding, calming acoustics, private washbasins, and well-being services that respond to real human needs.
We prove the social and economic case for Design for All. Our results show that inclusive design and commercial success reinforce each other. Visitor numbers, satisfaction scores, and venue brand preference all rise when people feel genuinely welcome.
Design for All is not a layer we add. It is where we start.
Our mission is to create moments for better well-being. That mission only has meaning if those moments are available to everyone.
ONE HUNDRED operates in some of the most visited public spaces in Europe: shopping centres, train stations, and highway service areas. The people who use our restrooms are not a niche. They are everyone. With over 14 million visitors a year, and numbers rapidly growing, the scale of impact is real.
For the millions of visitors who face invisible barriers in public spaces, a well-designed restroom removes a daily source of stress, discomfort, and exclusion. But well-being also means knowing that the space you use is good for the planet. Visitors increasingly expect both, and so do we. Water and energy consumption are actively reduced across all locations, and sustainability is embedded in our product choices and operations, from recycled soft towels to eco-friendly, skin-friendly soap.
Together, these commitments to inclusion, well-being, and sustainability are what we prove is possible at scale. Across multiple countries and location types, ONE HUNDRED contributes to raising the standard for public facilities across Europe. Every new location is a demonstration that Design for All belongs everywhere, including the spaces most people would rather not think about.
