The Consortium of Museums of the Community of Valencia (henceforth, CMCV) is an entity whose role, among others, is to encourage the research, production and display of the arts in all of its facets within the Autonomous Community of Valencia. This is a regional public body that is responsible for structuring the range of exhibitions in the Community of Valencia. It was established in 1996 as an initiative of the Regional Government of Valencia, the Provincial Councils of Alicante, Castellon and Valencia and the Councils of the three provincial capitals.

The collaborative spirit of the different public institutions was embodied in this project which, in this manner, coordinates and undertakes activities that cover a significant part of the programming in the galleries and museums of the three provinces: in Valencia, at the Museum of Fine Arts, the El Carme Contemporary Culture Centre, the Royal Shipyards, the City Museum and the Almudin; in Castellon at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Contemporary Art Space; and in Alicante at the Gravina Museum of Fine Arts, the Lonja del Pescado (Old Fish Market), Las Cigarreras Culture Centre and the Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA).

The museums and art centres that comprise the CMCV network seek to generate sustainable working processes for mediation with different groups, entities, and agents in local contexts or in collaborative environments, based on artistic experience as the basis for a vital learning process.

To do so, different institutions, associations and groups have been enlisted in order to launch a program aimed at people with different capacities and it uses artistic creation as means to provide meaningful experiences.

At the Consortium of Museums, we work to ensure that culture reaches everyone. To that end, at our Department of Education and Mediation, we work to adapt the languages of contemporary culture for all audiences, putting a special emphasis on the most sensitive groups and thus encouraging their participation.
