For the Administrations

The main aim of public administrations is to manage the common welfare and in this sense is their responsibility to guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens. While these principles are normally included in the laws and regulations when they are transferred to real life big gaps and obstacles prevent many citizens from fully exercise their rights.

This is why public bodies should emphasize the application of Design for All principles in the services provision.

The awareness of politicians and civil servants on Design for All brings the following advantages:

  • More efficient actions. Achieving that with lower costs a greater impact is achieved for all citizens and that no one is discriminated against.
  • Generate services that satisfy citizens more for longer and, therefore, extend the life of products and services by reducing energy costs and waste production, all the while strengthening ecological policies.
  • Improve cities so that they are more suitable for all citizens and visitors by means of strategic policies and actions not requiring big economical efforts but a change of perception on the part of municipal politicians and technicians.
  • To develop participative processes to engage the citizens in services’ improvements.
